The battle to overcome the devastating South Australian bushfires in early January 2014 didn't end when the last embers were extinguished. For more than 20 of the Keyneton Motorcycle Clubs members this is where the battle to rebuild their livelihoods will begin.
Literally hundreds of kilmetres of fences destroyed, hundres of head of stock lost to the fires and thousands of hectares of feed burnt to a cinder, shedding, equipment and houses lost as well!
Two of the paddocks worst hit were the sites of the 2011 Aussies (and 1994/1998 Aussie titles). The landowners have hosted many other KMCC events including every SA Women's cup and Diener/Holmes Sidecar Trophy events since their inception in 2009!
THE KEYNETON MCC IS NOW ON A MISSION! Having never asked the club for anything for using their land over the past 50 odd years, the club is now out to repay the favour and has started the ‘KMCC BUSHFIRE FUND’, with all monies raised to go to help all of our landowners who have taken a huge hit with the fires!
The Keyneton MCC are kicking off a fund with $5000 of its own money.
The KMCC is asking all those who would like to contribute to the fund to contact, in the first instance;
ANDREW WARNEST – [email protected]; to request the club’s banking details for direct deposit, or where to send donations by post.
