The season is under way in South Australia with the first round of the Sherco Troy Series contested and round 2 fast approaching this weekend. After round 2 of the Sherco TROY Series at Victor Harbour, there is a 3 week break in the action before it hots up big time!
May 18 sees TROY hit the half way point at round 3 of the Sherco TROY Series at Mungeree, home of Team Hogan and the reigning Moto Trials SA 'Event of the Year', and arguably SA's answer to Glenmaggie! A Gas Gas Motos Australia's Junior Development Program coaching/practise day on the Saturday, followed by a famous Hogan Woolshed Dinner on the Saturday night, and finished off with a Hoges inspired loop on the Sunday for the event itself! As usual, camping from Friday until Monday morning allowed and fully catered all weekend - sup regs now available.
This will be followed 2 weeks later by Australia's premier sidecar event, the Peter Sparkes Sidecar Trophy on June 1st, this year being run for the 39th time (the 40th year, but in 1992 there was no event run) and again at the AJS MTC's iconic property at Tungkillo. From all reports 1 event competition licences will be available for this fully catered (TBC) event, and the sup regs will give all the details, so keep an eye on www.ajs.asn.au for all the details on that one!
And - 2 weeks after that, June 15, will see the Keyneton MCC run their SA Women's Cup and Diener/Holmes Sidecar Trophy (yes folks, 2 huge sidecar events a fortnight apart and 1 event licences also available!) on Menglers Hill at Angaston. This is a break from tradition for this event, for the first time it is being run as a 1 day event (fully catered with camping) and away from the bushfire ravaged Eden Valley, but the SA Women's Cup will still feature all of the usual classes, plus some for Mini Trial (non competitive on small wheeled bikes for the under 7 years crew)! Saturday will also feature a Gas Gas Motos Australia's Junior Development Program coaching/practise day with special guest coaches, Kristie McKinnon and Kyle Middleton, along with Gas Gas Guru, Paul Arnott, which will be free to all, but let the organisers (Andrew) know you're coming for catering purposes!
BOTH SIDECAR EVENTS WILL RUN THREE (3) CLASSES, A GRADE, B GRADE AND CLASSIC (A Classic is defined by having an air-cooled motor and drum brakes with no sidecar wheel brake), PLUS SENIOR/JUNIOR SIDECAR TEAMS ARE ALLOWED UNDER GCR 23.8.0.2
