What a great event. Tassie put on an Aussie Titles to be proud of. Excellent sections, terrific organization, radio broadcast, lots of spectators a really friendly event.
The highlights for Beta Racing riders were Simon Van Baalen winning Masters, Ruben Chadwick first in Open Juniors and Foot and Foot the only finishers in Sidecar. While in Veterans, Beta won all three classes with Andrew Tarrant in 40-49, Tom Rafferty in 50-59 and John Waterworth in 60+.
Other great rides were Tim Coleman second in Open Solo. Tim had a fantastic second day with the best score ahead of eventual winner Kyle Middleton. Sam King while he came in 9th, showing lots of potential with some great rides. Experienced riders Neil Price and Trevor Campbell both finished well although neither were entirely happy with their ride. Trevor taking a day to warm up as his Sunday ride was a huge improvement over Saturday.
Ina Halls came fourth in Open Women not far behind third. Ina also had a much better second day and was very competitive on Sunday. Zach Mularczyk came in third in Youth class only 2 points behind second. Zach has a great future in trials. Ben Dumitro found stepping up to Youth a struggle cut he showed great determination to finish.
Veterans was dominated by Beta riders. In the 40-49 section, Andrew Tarrant and Matt Hannaford had a great battle with Andrew just a bit steadier when it counted. Crawford Pirie on the 4 stroke Beta had a competitive ride. In the 50-59 section, Tom Rafferty had a great ride only losing one point for the whole weekend. Dave Whitfield on the 4 stroke Beta rode well finishing mid field, while Scott Eggins battled on to finish. An excellent effort Scott. In the 60+ section. John Waterworth came first, Neil Berne second and Ken Hosking third to make a Beta podium.
In Juniors 7-12, Ben Franco made just one error for the whole weekend, but this was enough to drop to second in such a highly competitive class. Along with Vets and Open Boys Juniors, this class was really close with only a single error enough to put you out of the running for first place. In Junior women, Jasmine Tarrant rode with great determination to finish in third position.
Congratulations form Beta Racing to the Tassie organizers. You really did a sensational job. An event that deserved to be called an Australian Titles.
