In light of recent events here in South East Queensland please be advised that SQTA’s current non-member rider acceptance criteria has changed to now require anyone wishing to ride with us be nominated to do so by a current financial member of the club.
It is regretful that we have had to implement this as a look at our enquiries file over the past 6 years would indicate we have been proactive in allowing almost anyone to ride in our events not to mention being responsible for introducing/reintroducing well over 60 new riders into the sport with our open door policy but alas with our numbers getting to the point of unmanageability and the number of enquiries not getting any fewer we are now being forced to reluctantly start enforcing our invitation policy along with a club membership cap starting immediately.
So in a nutshell, if you are a current rider and want to ride with us, from this day forth you will need to talk to any of our current members who will provide us with your character reference to ensure that you are requesting a ride for all the right reasons i.e. not there to cause any trouble, and more importantly not using us as a convenient alternative to a depleting choice of affiliated clubs in the area, who we feel you should be supporting to stay viable instead of using us as an easy non commitment option, i.e. if you can't help your own club then we don't expect you'll want to help ours!
As for legitimate enquiries from anyone totally new to the sport wanting to get involved our door remains open dependant on our unchanged minimum 7 day prior pre-registration policy and an understanding that we aren’t a “riding for sheep stations” club so if that fits your ideology please feel free to continue to contact us to discuss how we can accommodate you. Please note, all new unknown riders will be required to undergo a Rider Competency test before being given the green light to compete in any of our events.
