There were some terrific results for Beta riders at this years Aussies. The organizing clubs put on a superb event in glorious Sydney weather. Congratulations to Kyle, Kristie and Connor for winning the big events.
The highlights for the Beta team were Rob Jones showing the class which took him to several Australian Open Solo Championships cleaning up Masters. Jamie Isherwood on the four stroke Beta first in Vets 40-49, Tom Raferty first in Vets 50-59 and New Zealander Dylan Ball first in Juniors 7 to U13.
In Open Solo, Tim Coleman had a slow start on Day 1 but came back strongly to finish second to Kyle. After only a couple of times on his bike this year, Trevor Campbell finished a very credible seventh just ahead of NZ Matt Foster in eighth. Neil Price had an event to forget and was not up to his normal standard.
Open Women saw Ina Halls in a very credible fifth place in a very strong field. Well done Ina. Melanie Lawson battled hard in eleventh again displaying great determination to finish not very far behind several other riders.
In Youth class, Zac Mularczyk had a great ride to come in third especially on day 2. Zac looks ready to make the step up to Expert and Open Solo next season on this form. Jack Rindo and Luke Patane had good consistant rides to come in ninth and tenth.
Open Junior class was dominated by Beta riders finishing from second to sixth. The top 5 riders were all close. Dean Collins in second just needs to ride in more major events to learn how to handle the pressure of competing in an Aussie Titles. His day 1 was superb. Ben Franco in third place rode superbly on day 2 to show just how talented he is. Joel Patane and David MacDonald both displayed outstanding potential. Real riders of the future. Alex Yiatrou in sixth showed he is not far behind with good consistent riding.
Juniors 7 to U13 was a huge field with lots of electric bikes up against the convential petrol bikes. Dylan Ball came out on top not dropping a single point all weekend - a great effort. Thomas Horne battled on but found the going pretty tough. Stick at it Thomas.
Jasmin Tarrant and Tess Warnest both from SA rode very well in Junior Women. Jasmin in third place had a terrific first day while Tess displayed great determination to keep going all weekend.
Apart from Rob Jones winning Masters with a dominating display, New Zealander Carl Robson in third and Simon Van Baalen in fifth had good days in a strong class with many very classy riders competing.
Beta riders always do well in Vets and this year was no exception. Jamie Isherwood on the four banger Beta in first, Dave Pratten fourth, Matt Hannaford sixth with Stewart Hayter as well all having great rides. This class is so competitive you can't afford to have even one five, can you Matt.
Tom Rafferty again dominated Vets 50-59 not putting his foot down once for the weekend. Tremendous concentration Tom. Patrick Whitfield on the 200 Beta had a great ride as did Darren Cresswell on the four stroke Beta. In the 60+ Vets, John Waterworth flew the Beta flag for a very credible fifth place.
