'84/'85 Montesa Cota
Can anyone explain why the '85 Cota 330 went back to frame rails under the motor when the previous 349/350 models had the alloy bash plate as a stressed member and no under engine frame rails. Seems like a backward step, was Honda involved ?

Hey Rod,
its my understanding that they went back to full cradle frame in an effort to reduce overall frame weight by redesigning the back bone in lighter gauge and smaller profile metal,so i think they would have had to regain strength with the bottom frame rails. They would also have a firmer ride with less frame flex then earlier models. they followed on from the 330 with the same idea for the 304 and 335,
