What a great day at Crystal Brook for Round 4 of the South Australian Championships.
Twenty Eight riders made the journey north for the second trial run by the Crystal
Brook M.C.C. for many years.
A trials display was conducted at the Crystal Brook Show on Saturday which generated
great deal of interest prompting a larger than normal spectators numbers on
Sunday.
Scott Irrgang took victory in A Grade after Jarrod Barwick led early on. Scott
now leads the State Championships by a margin of 10 points. With only one round
to go Scott is in an unbeatable position as the best 4 rounds count.
In B Grade John Harry has been very convincing, winning all 4 rounds to date.
Daren Diener who missed the first two rounds is in a position to challenge for
3rd place in the championships after taking second place at Crystal Brook. Peter
Arnold has ridden consistently to place 2nd in the championships with a 3rd
place at Crystal Brook.
Grant Stephen has taken his first State Championship in C Grade with another
victory at Crystal Brook. Second place is still open with Matthew Stanley David
Martin and Steve Fraser all having a chance at filling the second place in the
championship. Matthew Stanley rode well to take second place at Crystal Brook
followed by Steve Fraser in third.
The battle of the Greybeards is going down to the line with only 6 points separating
Colin Behn and Malcolm McKenzie. Malcolm has the inside running despite being
in second place but with Colin only being able to add 9 points to his 81 whereas
Malcolm can add 25 points due to only the riders best four rounds count.
Todd Kuerschner with Steve Sparkes have taken out another A Grade Sidecar championship
with a win today over Chris Schultz and Stuart Gerhardy. Chris and Stuart have
acclimatised to their new outfit and move up to A Grade with taking one win
over multiple Australian Champion pairing of Todd and Steve.
Junior has been very interesting this year with Andrew Baker and Joel Whitburn
taking two wins a piece. The series will come down to the last round with the
highest place of this pair taking the championship.Third place will be filled
by Drew Hender who has taken two seconds and two thirds in the series to date.
Joel won the Crystal Brook round with Andrew taking second and Drew placing
third.
