Subject: stalling problems

Okay, for you guys who are having stalling problems with your bikes, here are 2 tips that will help you out a lot. I learned these from the mad scientist, CJ, while working on and setting up Trials bikes over the past several years. Number one is a spark plug gap that is too large. This will cause the bikes to stall intermittently, especially at lower RPM, like idling or just inching along. All of a sudden it will just up and die for no apparent reason. Number two is having the spark plug wire too close to a metal frame member, especially bad if it's tie wrapped in place to keep it held in a certain position. In wet weather, it's especially bad. Both these things will drive you nuts and are usually the last things to even consider when trying to diagnose an irritating problem like sudden stalling. I'd say to check both of these things before getting into timing and jetting hassles.
